This #LTSAT Support group is for people who have lost their sense of smell or taste and those who support them.
This free online event hosted by Fifth Sense & Fifth Sense volunteer co-hosts, is for people who have lost their sense of smell or taste, whatever the cause and whether or not the cause of the loss is known / diagnosed.
Medics may refer to smell loss as acquired anosmia, or to a reduced sense of smell as hyposmia or functional anosmia. They may refer to taste loss as ageusia or to a reduced sense of taste as hypogeusia.
The event will provide an open, supportive and relaxed environment for those affected by smell or taste loss to share their thoughts, feelings and tips with others who understand.
If you are the parent or carer of a child who has lost their sense of smell or taste you are welcome to join us. Many parents find this a helpful way to gain a deeper understanding of what their child is experiencing and how they can help.
Please note: We also host events for people who have never been able to smell, and for people who can smell but who are experiencing smell or taste distortions. If you are unsure whether or not this is the right event for you, please watch these short videos on our YouTube channel:
